Photograph the Positive in your Life!

As a counseling intern it is a new experience to lead groups and aid people towards recovery. It is pertinent that we participate in self-care to combat any overwhelming feelings and negative thoughts. Especially still being a Graduate student, having consistent deadlines for school can be a lot!
So... what is my main self-care? My self-care is… *drum role please* Photography!
I have been learning and participating in this activity since I was nine-years-old. I use a Nikon D5000 and it has challenged how I look at life. I look at life through a lens and try to find the beauty and positivity we sometimes forget is in the world. For example, I explore new places around Tallahassee, like parks, and from there look at the beautiful nature we are blessed to have around us.
I challenge you to take this week and look through your own lens in a different way. Take a small adventure: walk around the block, visit a new park, or even go to your backyard! Try to find the positive around you and take that picture. You do not need a fancy camera to find the beauty in your daily life. So, take some time this week to find that positive in your life.
“All I have to do is show up and enjoy the messy, imperfect and beautiful journey of my life.”
– Kerry Washington
